The main idea for this kind of sport might have been derived from the stacking toys that parents buy for their kids during their toddler years. Stacking toys are sold in several kinds. There are nesting cups, stacking rings, stacking blocks and stacking cups. If you’re getting this kind of plaything for an infant or a 6-month old baby, you can choose the stacking or nesting cups. Ideally, the number of cups should be from 6 to 9, this way children can get an idea about different sizes. They should also be in solid colors, so you can boost your kids’ ability in recognizing colors. Although. Some manufacturer’s produce cups that are designed or that has pictures in them to make them more attractive, it may not be as efficient in helping kids to recognize colors. If you really want one that has a design, you can scout for those with little pictures only. Stacking blocks that has letters, pictures or numbers on them can be bought for toddlers or bigger kids.

This kind of toy targets four different abilities or skills. First, it will enhance your kids’ hand and eye coordination. For toddlers this will enable them to grasp at things better. You can teach them to place the smaller cups inside the bigger ones, which would be a basic skill for beginners and infants of course. They would also need your close supervision while at play. For toddlers, you can instruct them to place the cup on top of each other and make them imagine how they can create forms like pyramids, etc. If they’re not able to stack them correctly and the cups tumble, treat is as a part of the play. The kids might perceive tumbling or knocking down of the cups as failing, so you have to guide and support them accordingly. Next ability would be color recognition. Here, you can talk to your baby or kid while he or she is holding a specifically-colored cup. Tell him what the color of that cup is or better yet ask him or her to pick the cup that is blue or red in color. You are not only honing the kids’ color recognition skills but also his or her listening ability as well as the overall communication skills of the child. The introduction of the concept of size is also made easier through this tool. You can teach your child which one is small and which one is big. Then you can guide him or her to stack according to size. Last but not the least; the kids’ language skills are enhanced. It may be a one way conversation at first but rest assured in this process your kids are learning even at play.
