Take To The Seas On Your Cheap Holidays To Crete
For a simple holiday where you just want to get away with the family and have a great time, Crete is a fantastic option. There are activities on offer to please even the biggest scrooge, and the kids will be sure to love it. But we suggest spending cheap holidays to Crete getting extremely wet!
You will find beaches and lakes throughout the area, and there aquariums and diving schools where you can meet some exotic wildlife and spend the day on some fantastic water rides. These are some of the best places in Crete to do this:
Elafonissi Beach
Begin your holiday by checking out the best beaches Crete has to offer. One of the most stunning is Elafonissi beach located at the southeast tip of Crete. It is world renowned and has many attractions in it’s own right, such at the Cave of Sophia. This is a grand chamber with a small chapel dedicated to St Sophia in the cave. You are meant to ring the bell there for good luck, so do it at the beginning of your holiday to make sure it’s a good one!
Diving Centre Blue Dolphin
The Diving Centre is still one of the lesser known attractions, but it is certainly one of the best experiences you can have on all inclusive holidays to Crete. When you first arrive you will be given a short induction to diving, but soon enough you will be getting the wetsuits on and ready to jump in. What could be better than plunging into the depths of the Mediterranean Ocean? As you go deeper, you will see more underwater flora and exotic creatures occupying the sea. Remember, the instructors are with you every step of the way, so don’t be nervous.
Cretaquarium Thalassocosmos
Cretaquarium opened at the end of 2005 and is one of two Aquariums in Crete. It has also recently been refurbished, bringing it up to international standards. The kids will love the Cretaquarium, which gives you the opportunity to interact with all kinds of weird and wonderful fish and reptiles. From predator sharks to sea horses, there is nothing you wont see. Part of its appeal is the broad range of creatures they have to see. You will be able to see creatures from the nearby Mediterranean Sea, and even more rare wildlife from exotic locations all over the world.
Lake Kournas
You can’t go to Crete without seeing Lake Kournas though. It is easy to get to from any area in the city, but it is a great novelty to take the miniature train from the nearby village of Georgoupolis for just a few Euros. The beautiful area is lined with a deep blue ocean and stunning natural surrounds. It’s a great photo opportunity for your cheap holidays to Crete too.
