Never Try This At Home
Walk into your kitchen. You will see a selection of amazing appliances. They do so much for you and ask very little in return. They improve your life by reducing the work load in the kitchen. There are things that these modern marvels are not made to do. Do not attempt any of these procedures at home.
You probably have an electric hand mixer. These work well for mixing things like cookies and cake batter. There are certain recipes that should be considered taboo with your mixer. One of them includes mud pies. Normally this would not be a problem in the average kitchen. However, there may be small children concerned. Kids make anything possible. Remember that, as you tend to their whereabouts.
Microwave ovens are an amazing invention. Most people do not have any idea how they work. If you want to know how a microwave works, go online and find information. Go to your local library. Ask someone that repairs or understands their workings. Do not take them apart. There is danger inside. These appliances possess a high voltage transformer. High voltage should raise a red flag inside your head. They also contain radioactive material. The word radioactive should also cause a state of awareness. Perhaps the hair on the back of your neck will stand up. When it comes to microwave ovens, use them for food and not for educational purposes.
Toasters have been around for many years. They are still excellent for toasting bread and English muffins. You can also heat up and toast certain pastry items. There are times when things will become jammed inside of them. This happens often with muffins. When this happens, do not use your reflexes. They may tell you to reach in. In worse case scenarios, they may tell you to use a butter knife to free the trapped object. Here is your first move. Unplug the toaster. Make certain that it is unplugged. It is then OK to fix the toaster.
Do you have a cordless handheld vacuum? These are great for cleaning up spills. Make sure that the spills do not contain liquids. This may also seem elementary. However, things like this have been known to happen.
Here is another word about mixers. You may have a lovely Kitchen Aid hand mixer on your counter. Make sure that it does not find its way into a sink filled with water. This may seem simple. However, it frequently happens. Just because you have shock saver plugs, does not mean that you should bet your lives on them.

Kitchen appliances are amazing inventions. However, they have their limits. Keep them out of water. Always unplug them when working on them. Make sure that you know where the kids are, at all times.
