What would STER PPC mean on a silver locket necklace. And would it be an antique.?
IT’S A HEART SHAPE THAT HOLDS FOUR PICTURES IT ALSO HAS ENGRAVING ON THE FRONT WITH A TINY BIT OF GREEN. IT WAS FOUND IN A WALL THAT WAS TORN DOWN IN AN OLD HOME.
The STER indicates it is sterling silver. The PPC may be the jeweller’s mark.
The tiny bit of green is of concern though. This might just be a silver-plated piece (copper being used for the base) with the front silver being mostly worn off.
Best place to bring it is a jeweller to confirm it is indeed silver.
As to whether it is an antique, that is difficult to assess online. How old is the house/wall that you took it out of? If the house is less then 100 years old, it is very unlikely to be an antique. Again, take it to a jeweller.
An alternative is to take it to a few (more than one) local antique dealers and see what they value it as.
