The Chanel Classic & Elegant J12 Watch; Summer’s Favorite Watch
Chanel was primarily recognized in haute couture and the perfume business as early as the 1920s until the 1950s. Though it expanded and ventured in jewelry, it wasn’t until the start of the 21st century that it made its mark in the horological industry with the Chanel J12.
The Chanel J12 is the first watch made from high-tech scratch-proof ceramic back in 2000. After substantial research and development, it was discovered that ceramic can be transformed into an extremely strong, durable, and scratch-resistant material which is impressively lightweight and ideal for watches. The J12 was likewise the first essential-watch timepiece that is water resistant to 200 meters and the first watch made both for men and women (unisex).
Due to its success, Chanel continued to develop model variations of the J12 in black or white ceramic. Among the classic Chanel J12 models is H1625 in black ceramic case and matching black ceramic bracelet coated by black tungsten carbide. It sports a bidirectional bezel in steel-rimmed black ceramic. The Chanel J12 H1625 is made simply elegant with a black-lacquered dial and 12 diamond hour indicators. The date is discreetly placed between the 4 and 5 o’clock. This specific timepiece is powered by a Swiss quartz movement and is water-resistant up to 200 meters, making it suitable for snorkeling or skin-diving.
The H1625 is the smaller of the 2 similar versions of this watch with a 33 mm case. For those who prefer a less imposing timepiece, this would be the choice over the bigger 38 mm case. Regardless of the design, it has a traditional design and monochromatic finish that exudes a strength which can complement both men and women. Though not as ‘busy’ and complicated as other Swiss luxury brands, the Chanel J12 H1625 is a wonderful choice for anyone who believes in simple and clean designs supplemented by excellent watchmaking technology.
